GARDEN PARTY: INVITE

Happy Friday, everyone! Earlier in the week we shared some elements that inspired the real-life garden party we threw last weekend. Today we thought we’d showcase the invitations we designed. Take a peek!

Wanting to fuse traditional floral motifs with a more modern aesthetic, we chose a simple yet interactive approach. We found a boatload of vintage handkerchiefs at the Mall of St. Paul, an amazing antiques store, and folded them around the paper invite. Check out local antique stores or your parents’ attic if you’d like to use vintage hankies. It was a delightful experience to open the handkerchief to reveal the invite. Lettra paper made another appearance (we used it for the Winter Woods invitations), and we decided to do square invites with square envelopes to mimic the shape of the hankies (don’t forget that it will cost you extra money to send square envelopes!).

Other options we considered but were either too expensive or too time-consuming for our schedules were to buy a custom rubber stamp to stamp the invite text directly onto the handkerchief or to screenprint the text instead. Who knows, maybe these techniques will work for your party!
